Boss Marine Products

Boss battery trays are built to withstand the toughest elements while maintaining a streamlined style and appeal at home on any boat. Manufactured in the U.S. from Starboard, a proven marine material, every Boss tray is machined to the specific shape and dimensions of its intended battery, resulting in a custom fit and added security for your power source.

Boss Marine Battery Tray

The process begins with the use of highly accurate measuring equipment to create a tray with a perfect fit. These measurements are inputted into a CAD software where we can analyze the fitment and the looks. This allows us to see any issues that may be encountered prior to manufacturing. Once the final design is accepted the CAD file is then imported into a CAM program. Computer Aided Machining is what is used to actually create the part. Tools and tool paths are selected which are driven from the CAD model. Once all toolpaths and operations are created the program is run through a simulation to ensure the program is free of flaws. Now the parts are ready for manufacture. The CAM software outputs a code which is sent to the machine and with some setup it’s time to hit the cycle start button. The first part gets a thorough inspection ensuring the fit is perfect and the finish is up to par. Once the part is qualified there is a routine inspection put into place to maintain the quality of the product for our customers.

Take a detailed look at BOSS battery trays and you will note some key features that make these trays superior to anything available on the market:  First, Starboard.  Known in the marine industry for its durability, resistance to corrosion, and finish, Starboard provides our customers the expectation of a long and virtually maintenance-free life for their Boss tray.

However, the feature that truly sets us apart is the fit.  BOSS trays are designed to specifically fit the battery with a line-to-line clearance.  Once the battery is placed in the tray, the BOSS design allows no lateral movement.  These snug-fitting trays not only offer security, the quality materials and precision manufacturing create a sleek, attractive accessory, suitable for your vessel no matter the type.  With the fit and finish of today’s boats no detail should be overlooked.

Adding to our rugged base, we have upgraded the straps.  BOSS trays say no to dainty straps.  We go big with a 1.5 inch strap and a quality buckle to ensure your battery stays where you tell it to. Guided around both the tray and the battery, the straps lock the battery down, so it cannot separate from the tray.  The quick-release buckle makes installing and removing your battery a breeze.  And with the adjustable strap, you can orient the buckle in the position that works best for you.

In the interest of versatility, we machined channels under the tray in both directions to allow clearance for the strap.  This feature allows the strap to be installed in either configuration, depending on your preference or needs.   And, if the strap ever needs to be replaced, the channel extends to the ends of the tray, allowing you to remove and reinstall the strap without moving the tray from its installed position.

We at BOSS trays believe that quality shows in the details.  And this last detail shows just that.  A common issue with most battery trays and boxes is drainage.  We have solved this issue with our drain slot.  Cut through the center of the tray, the slot intersects with the strap channels, which allows water to drain from the tray to keep your battery free from sitting in water.  This design detail simply leaves water no place to stand.   Also, as it’s cut in both directions, the drain will function regardless of your preferred strap configuration.

All these key features add up to make the best battery tray available at an affordable cost. Quality, Fit and Function are the core of BOSS Marine Products.

A BOSS battery tray does what it’s supposed to do...  and looks good doing it.
